Medical Laboratory Technology Labs

The Medical Laboratory Technology department at FIHS and Faisal Hospital has contributed greatly to the country’s catalogue of healthcare education. The department was established under the shade of Government College University, Faisalabad (GCUF) with the vision to promote innovations and appropriate use of techniques for promoting Public Health Care. This department has the honor to introduce graduates of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Program. Our MLT program is known and appreciated nationally for its excellent educational standards and extensive practical experience. At FIHS, MLT graduates obtain skills which include developing and establishing procedures for collecting, processing and analyzing biological specimens. The standard protocols and quality assurance are added to their skills to provide the best healthcare practices. Modern techniques of classroom teaching, on-desk practical training and supervised clinical rotations are provided to the students. Students are trained to operate complex electronic instruments to analyze blood, body fluids and other substances for the presence of normal, abnormal and malignant chemical components and cells. They are skilled to prepare blood for transfusion and match proper blood donor to recipient; screen, evaluate and monitor transplantation patients. They perform and validate specialized and complex tests that include flow-cytometery, forensic testing, and paternity testing, cytogenetic and molecular probes.. Graduates of the program may be candidates for positions such as Laboratory Managers, Education Coordinators, College or University Medical Technology faculty members, Laboratory Computer Specialists, Research Laboratory Technologists, Forensic Lab Scientists, Product Specialists or Technical Advisors for Laboratory equipment or chemicals etc. In public services of Pakistan, they are eligible for direct recruitment in gazetted pay scale in clinical or managerial cadre and teaching cadres.
