Food is the basic necessity of life and required by the humans to build & repair tissues, keep the body in good working condition and supply fuel for energy. Faculty of Human Nutrition and Dietetics is striving hard to provide quality education at undergraduate and graduate levels. Considering the facts, Pakistani population is suffering from a variety of nutritional deficiency disorders ranging from protein-calorie malnutrition to specific micro-nutrients in certain areas of the country. These deficiencies have resulted in growth retardation, mental disorders and various types of physical disabilities. Besides micronutrient deficiencies, the incidences of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, obesity, hypertension, kidney and liver problems are increasing day by day due to adulterated, unsafe and poor quality diets. To alleviate the nutrient deficiencies and tackle metabolic disorders faculty is contributing towards society through trained manpower in the domain of human nutrition. The Faisal Institute of Health Sciences is excelling in the discipline of Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND) for the purpose of achieving the welfare and wellbeing of the family in an ever changing society.
HND is a dynamic and ever growing field ducation. It is a need-based, professionally oriented education to assist family and community towards improved living. It is the key subject in shaping the future course of lives by preparing useful citizens with relevant knowledge and competencies to transform them into efficient custodians of the nation's future.
